“voolama”, what's in a name?


If you’re scratching your head trying to figure out just what on earth does that word mean, well, I don’t blame you. I wouldn’t expect you to. I certainly didn’t. But whatever your feelings on the word, you have to admit: “voolama” rolls off the tongue. It
flows


When I started this company, I wanted to pick a name that was both memorable
and practical. Something that caught people’s attention, but that also related to the core ethos of the company I was founding.


In the process of building this business, I kept coming back to the idea that, at the end of the day, what we do is help our clients and partners flow better by introducing and implementing digital technologies that transform their business.


So, I had the concept, but you can’t just go naming your business “flow,” now can you? Plus, it doesn’t stand out! “What’s another word for flow?” I thought to myself. Unable to find a satisfying answer, I turned to the place I always do in moments of deep contemplation - Google.


There, I was presented with a number of interesting options, but one in particular caught my eye, “voolama,” the Estonian word for “flow.”


Admittedly, it’s not the most readily accessible word to speakers of English. Some even find it a bit challenging to pronounce. I think it’s a rather neat metaphor for what we do.


Digital transformation isn’t easy. It can be a challenge, which is why many companies balk at the idea of it. Our job is to demystify this process and help you come out the other end a better, more forward-thinking company.


Just like we’re to help you out by letting you know it’s pronounced, “voo-la-ma.”


See? Not that hard. This foreign word has proved the spark of initial interest that has led to many, many great partnerships.

Our logo shows two circling arrows, the darker arrow represents voolama and our initial partnership with you - our client. The lighter arrow represents our clients, where they take the reins and move forward in a more efficient manner.

Dean has spent the last 20+ years working with some of the worlds finest financial institutions. including, UBS Investment Bank, Morgan Stanley, Franklin Templeton Investments and Wells Fargo.


Dean has decades of experience managing large technical implementations, programs and projects in highly matrixed, globally diverse, corporate environments and enjoys delivering data driven results. For the last ten years Dean has focused on Aprimo software to deliver digital transformation and has won a number of accolades as well as being a key-note speaker and founding client of the Aprimo Financial Services User Forum.
